| Description | Rawhide. "Seal skin float for whale harpoon line". The skin is gathered at each end and bound with cord; beyond the binding each end is pierced with a wooden peg (one of which is also bound). The binding ties in a long (c. 490 cm.) thick soft rope which is looped bet-ween the ends and extends beyond. Withing the fold of the skin a vent is plugged with wooden disk and peg and bound with cord. |
