| Description | Stout shaft, in which the insertion of the tanged leaf-shaped head is reinforced with a rawhide plaited tube of cane or palm rind. The thick butt is enclosed in a tube of rawhide; above this is a band of hairy hide between two plaited rings of the same material as that at the upper end of the shaft. The spear is said to be a Swahili "elephant's spear". |
