Jar

Fragmentary. Shape: Piriform jar with four horizontal coil handles on the shoulder, heavy rim, and molded base. Fabric: Coarse, brown clay with pink (7.5YR 8/4) slip and decoration in reddish brown (5YR 5/4) to black paint and added red (poorly preserved) paint. Decoration: Rim and handles painted. Bands on neck; conglomerate pattern (FM 76, no. 2) on handle zone, with bands above and below; frieze of petaloid loops (FM 63) on body, delineated by bands; bands on lower part of body, above frieze of "grass or reed" (FM 16); base painted. Added red paint: bands on neck, shoulder and body; dots in centers of circles in handle zone; perhaps other motifs. Resting surface unpainted. Condition: Restored from fragments. Some sherds missing.
