| Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The face is divided vertically by a white and black line into two sides, each painted brown. The eyes are rectangular and have symbols above and below. The mouth is a painted, protruding tube. There is a painted brim above the forehead and feathers attached to the top of the head. The body is painted red, green and yellow and a kilt is painted over the waist. This figure is likely the Stick (Malo) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #130, Wright, B., 1973 #176) |
