| Description | Vermeule: Green Mottled Jasper. Intaglio. (Modern gold ring setting) Venus Victrix seen from back leaning to right on a column, holds helmet in outstretched right hand, a spear transversely in left. Shield appears on ground in front of her. Copy of a well-known statue or painting in Rome. c 50 B.C. and probably in Pompey's Temple on top of his theatre. Roman Imperial. |
