| Description | Three carved and painted wooden masks mounted on cedar bark band woven in checkerboard tech-nique backed and banded with red cloth. Masks represent "Sinsiutl", the double-headed serpent. Front one is full-faced, carved and painted in red, blue and black with carved and painted "plumes" attached to each side; eyes, nostrils and sharp jagged teeth of abalone shell. Side masks face back-wards and are carved and painted in blue and red; have a curved-back nose,red out-thrust tongue attached to mouth and "plume" attached to head. Black feathers sewed behind front mask; red on the side. |
