| Description | Stout shaft, tapering towards butt, which is inserted in a section of bamboo (two joints). The slender blade which tapers gradually to a roundish point is inserted in the shaft by means of a tang; the insertion is reinforced by means of an iron ring and a tube of plaited copper wire. This type of plaiting occurs on the Borneo spear P 1181; varied patterns on P 1170, 1154. For the insertion of the butt in bamboo cf. the Sepik spears apears 29-50-453, 465, 466, etc. |
