| Description | Sommerville: Sard. Ptolemaeus Philadelphus and Arsinoe, his wife. She was also his sister, B.C. 279. A Greek intaglio. Gold Rings - Intaglios, Case FFF. Vermeule: Sard. Intaglio. (Modern Gold Ring Setting) Jugate heads of a bearded man and a woman wearing a diadem facing to right. The heads copy Greek types of the Hellenistic period. Sommerville termed them Ptolomy Philadelphus and Arsione, but they do not resemble the coin portraits. Neo-Classic |
