Kachina Doll

The Object is identified as Shulawitzi the Zuni Fire God. It is a painted wooden carved figure, black with colored spots all over, with no face, and red and turquoise beads adorning the neck and wrists. The proper right hand holds a tapered painted stick with green yarn tied around the wrist. The proper left hand holds a tapered painted stick, a fire stick bundle, two painted scapula bones, with a turquoise stone, metal and leather bracelet tied around the wrist. At the top of the head white yarn painted with a black stripe is glued and nailed to the figure. The figure wears a short full skirt of dark blue yarn with a belt of turquoise fabric. A black fabric breech cloth is worn under the skirt. The figure wears red/brown moccasins.
