| Description | The object is identified as a Zuni Longhair kachina. It is a painted wooden carved figure with long black hair of yarn and a beard. Attached to the back of the head is a string with remnants of feathers. The Kachina has accessories around the neck, wrists, and legs. Proper right hand holds a white gourd rattle, in proper left green yarn emulates evergreen boughs. The dance kilt is made of felted wool and includes black, red, blud, yellow cut out fabric shapes; a white cotton sash belt is worn at waist. Fabric colors: white, black, orange, red, turquoise, green, yellow. Paint colors: white, neon yellow, and neon orange. |
