| Description | The object is identified as a Hopi Chief Kachina, the Hopi Germination God, Aholi. The figure is painted wood, carved with a domed mask painted half yellow, half turquoise blue, with small black crosses, black and white, with a protruding curved mouth nose. Four carved feathers are attached at the back of the head along with three branches and ten gray and white striped feathers. The figure wears a narrow black painted bandolier, dance kilt, red narrow sash belt, and embroidered sash at right side. Paint colors: white, black, red, brown, green and turquoise. |
