| Description | Dance canoe paddle made and painted by Donald Starbard (Wak'eesh) of Hoonah. The design motif depicts a sea otter currently in abundance once again in the Hoonah homelands of Glacier Bay. The sea otter, surrounded by kelp/seaweed, is on his back eating a clam/sun symbol held on its stomach. This item was given as a gift to the Penn Museum in recognition of a repatriation and an MOU/partnership developed by the Tribe and Penn Museum. |
