| Description | Wooden Katsina doll painted reddish-brown. The face has exaggerated features and has four protrusions around the head and one on top. Each protrusion has a feather attached at the end. A black, felt scarf is wrapped around the neck and a black kilt is painted around the waist. Reddish-brown moccasins are painted over the feet. A feather is held in one hand. This figure is the Mudhead (Koyemsi), a type of Katsina clown. (Colton, H. 1959 #59, Wright, B., 1973 #238) |
