| Description | Wood hair comb in four pieces used in a ceremony called muneage (棟上げ), or the "ridge pole putting up ceremony". During the ceremony several objects are fastened to the pole, comprising three folding fans, extended to form a disc, strips of cotton cloth, red, white, and yellow, vegetable fibers, dyed yellow, and a small metal toilet mirror, a coarse comb, and a "switch" of human hair. The last three articles are usually borrowed from the wife of the owner of the house. |
