| Description | Cotton tube skirt (bidang). Iban people, Sarawak. Ikat patterned with natural dyes. Blue-black bands top and bottom, then broad bands made up of multicolor narrow stripes (some including commercial red and yellow dyed threads). Center field ikat patterned with soft red-brown natural dye: complex motifs involving lozenges and multiple scrolls/tendrils. Line of 21 single scrolls at one end of fabric, along line of stitching. |
