| Description | Iron griddle called a tava (तवा) or tawa. The piece is a black disc-shaped pan in a concave shape which has been hammered by hand. Both sides show evidence of use. The tava is a typical pan used by rural women to make roti or chapati ( and other traditional Indian breads ) over a fire. A pair of tongs, called chimta or chippio, are often used to flip the bread on the tava. |
