| Description | Vermeule: Carnelian-Sardonyx. Cameo.(Modern gilt ring setting) Old Centaur hands tied behind him, tormented by an Eros on his back. Design copies a Hellenistic statuary group of which versions exist from as late as the Roman II A.D. in the Museo Capitolino in Rome, the Vatican Museum and the Louvre. |
