| Description | Sarangi (Sarange), fiddle. Wooden, waisted body with parchment sounding surface. Squarish neck open at back with red cup-like ornament at top. 7 lateral pegs in neck, metal strings attached inside neck, coming out diagonally arranged ivory-rimmed holes in neck front. 4 lateral pegs (2 each side) through peg box, with heavy gut strings. Ivory trim around edges of instrument. Dark wooden bridge-flat and rectangular in shape. Bow of dark wood with light hair & ivory frog and screw cap. |
