| Description | A drug stamp (薬種切手). It was issued in Kyoto in what was Yamashiro province (山城) in the area once known as Kinai (畿内) which used to consist of five provinces (Yamashiro, Settsu, Kawachi, Izumi, Yamato). The denomination is one monme of silver (銀壹匁). It dates to 1866 CE (慶応 Keio 丙寅 hinoe tora). There is an image of Shennong (神農) at the top on the obverse side. Shennong is knwon for introducing agriculture and herbal medicine to China. |
