Description

A loan bill (御貸附御手形). It was issued by Fushimi Palace (伏見宮) in Yamashiro province (山城) in present day Kyoto prefecture.The denomination is one monme of silver (銀壹匁). It dates to 1866 CE (Keio 慶応 hinoe tora 丙寅). The obverse has a minogame turtle as well as flowers and some stylized dragons. The top of the reverse depicts a farmer carrying rice on his shoulder. Beneath him are the treasures of the Seven Gods of Good Luck: three wish granting gems in the center, a pair of rhinoceros horns at the top, a magic mallet, a coin, a treasure bag, a key to the storehouse of the gods, a cloak of invisibility, two ingots, and a hat of invisibility.
