| Description | A prefectural gold note (府県札金札). This type of note is issued by a city or prefecture subordinate to the central Meiji government. This one is from Sakai prefecture (堺縣) which was part of present day Osaka prefecture. The denomination is two shu of gold (金貮朱). It dates to 1869 CE (明治己巳 Meiji Earth-Snake). |
