Description

Seated ceramic figure. Red glaze on head, light brown glaze on body. Seated with ankles crossed and hans on knees. Headdress has dark clay disc on front with scratch-marks etched into it. A band with white stripes circles the head. Earrings are large red discs with white corsses. A line of painted red clay encircles neck. Wristlets are painted with red and black stripes. Chest and arms have a red and black stripes. On chest there is one row of red dots running parallel to the stripes. One red and one organe band is painted above each ankle. There is a wide red stripe extending from waist into crotch, both in front and in back of figure. The back has alternating red and orange wavy stripes running down its length. Eyes and mouth are painted. There are black stripes running across face, stopping at one side of nose and starting again on the other side.

Found in Bob Sharer's Office (433) on Jan. 4, 2013. Was part of Walter Piper Accession in 1972 (fakes).
