Bottle

Narrow-necked jar/bottle (aribalo, aryballos) with an ovate body, hyperboloid neck, flared rim with lugs, 2 vertical strap handles on the body, and a conical base. The vessel has a small mold-formed monkey head attached to the front of the body and is painted with a meander design around the body in white and black. The body of the vessel has a red slip. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2316"
