| Description | Wooden Katsina doll painted brown. The face has exaggerated features with three protrusions around the head and one on top. A yellow, carved scarf is wrapped around the neck and a dress is painted around the waist. Brown, black and white moccasins are painted over the feet. A rattle is held in one hand. The base is painted green around the outside edge. This figure is the Mudhead (Koyemsi), a type of Katsina clown. Made by Arnold Numkena. (Colton, H. 1959 #59, Wright, B., 1973 #238) |
