| Description | Round, wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted blue with red and yellow horizontal lines below rectangular eyes. The mouth is a red, protruding tube. A feather is attached to the top of the head which is painted black. A blanket is painted over the shoulders and a painted dress is underneath. This figure is the female Kau-a Katsina (Kau-a Katsin Mana), borrowed from the Navajo. (Colton, H. 1959 #136, Wright, B., 1973 #179) |
