| Description | Sommerville: Sard. Cicero, the Roman orator. Gold and Bronze Rings - Cameos, Case PPP. Vermeule: Sard. Cameo. (Modern gold ring setting) Bust identified as Cicero, to right. The features and, in fact, the whole composition are copied from a bust of an unknown man of the late Republic in the Uffizi, Florence, which has long been mislabelled Cicero. cf. 2190 for similar composition/styling. |
