| Description | Large flat circular umbrella hat consisting of several layers supported by an elaborately joined spoked frame; the top layer of cotyphoa ubraculifera leaves is followed by succeeding layers of cloth, paper, and book mica; the frame itself consists of thin spokes of wood (or reed) joined by several bands of coiled reed with scalloped "V" shaped and circular reed decorations between each band; a straight sided circular inner crown of cotypha umbraculifera leaves is attached at the center of the frame. |
