| Description | A sample of leaves used as a red or yellow dye. A piece of paper with handwriting reads: "Case 181-6 "Sagun" The Teak Tree 8720 Tectona grandis L. Verbenaceae Locality Rangoon Uses Leaves yield a red or yellow Dye Ref Watt Vol VI-IV-10 Mueller Select Trop Plants. 525". Another piece of paper reads: " LEAVES of FAMOUS TEAK wood tree yield a red or yellow DYE Tectona grandis BURMA". A label with a yellow background and red border reads: "TEAK LEAVES Tectona grandis yield a red or yellow dye." Another piece of paper with handwriting reads: " Dye B: Tectona grandis V: Sagun (leaves) From Rangoon 8720." Another piece of paper with handwriting says on one side: "8721 Leaves of Teak Tree "Sagun" Tectona grandis L Verbenaceae over". The other side reads: "yields a red or yellow dye Rangoon India". |
