Description

A sample of leaves used for yellow dyeing. A piece of paper with handwriting in French in black and red ink says: "Cochinchina 6657 Mat tinct feuilles n. o. La Dung Symplocos spicata Roxb Symplocaceae pour teinture jaune". Another piece of paper with handwriting reads: "LEAVES yield YELLOW DYE Symplocos spicata COCHIN-CHINA". A label reads: "SYMPLOCOS LEAVES yield a yellow dye".
