Description

A kete muka (flax fibre bag) made of woven muka (processed harakeke, New Zealand flax). Fringe along three sides. Carrying loop of twisted flax.

Kete muka were mainly used by women for carrying personal belongings, gifts, or personal adornment.

This bag was exhibited at l'Exposition universelle de Paris 1900.
