Basket

Beaded basket. Small basket with long strap. Twill-design basketry of flattened rattan. Front of basket covered with green cloth, over which is a criss-cross design of red ribbon strips. In the interstices of this criss-cross are yellow chain embroidery and tiny metal and/or shell sequins. The red ribbon strips are beaded with white seed beads. The shoulder strap is plaited plant fiber (sisal or coir), which has been covered by more of the green cloth from the front, edged with white seed beads; triple tassels of floss and white seed beads are attached close to either end of the strap.
