| Description | Kalathos-like bowl with flaring rim and molded base, with no handles. Coarse, pink (5YR 7/4) clay with a paler surface, with light, dark, and micaceous inclusion. Wiped with water. Restored from fragments. For the kalathos, a related shape, see 441. This shape has been discussed by Georgiou (1986: 30-31). It is common in Crete. Compare (among others) Sackett and Popham 1970: fig. 17, no. NP 105 (Palaikastro); Platon 1965: pl. 237B (Kato Zakros). Narrow foot with molded ring encircling base, flaring walls, wide mouth; coarse light buff clay; mended. |
