| Description | Clay pot (kura tana') (= pot [made of] earth). Used for cooking and perhaps storage. Becoming rare, replaced with aluminum pots. One of several pots made at time of collector's visit by a woman named Sa'adia Yakasah. Made with stone anvil & wooden paddle. Local clay dug from hillside, dried for 1 day, soaked in water for 15 min., then mixed with river sand & molded as pot. Sun dried 1 day, then fired on wood/brush fire for about 1 hour. Red, with pattern of incised slashes on rim. Broken in shipping. |
