Description

A Koyasan Daitoku-in Temple Loan Office Bill (高野山大徳院御貸附役所手形) issued in Kii (紀伊) province, present day Wakayama prefecture. The denomination is one monme of silver (銀壹匁). This is a temple note associated with Koyasan (高野山). This resembles a hansatsu but is more likely a shi-satsu or private issue note. It is dated to October of 1864 (元治元年10月 Genji first year 10th month, 甲子 kinoe ne). There is a boat of treasures at the top of the obverse and an image of Daikoku on the reverse.
