| Description | A votive called an Ema (絵馬) depicting a barrel of sake with an upside down sake cup covering it. A label attached to the ema reads: "This votive offered by a man addicted to drinking too much Saki. He hereby vows to the god that he will reform. Procured in the votive temple of Hommonji at Ikegami, near Tokyo." The back has handwriting in pencil with a similar senitmenet: "From small votive temple at Ikegami - Temple of Hommonji near Tokyo - 2 hours by jinriksha. This votive is from a man who was addicted to drinking too much Saki. He hereby vows to the gods that he will reform. [illegible] 1895". |
