| Description | Incomplete and mended. Handles and part of base missing. Flaring ring base; gently rising floor to angular break to nearly vertical wall with flaring rim. Ridge between wall and rim. Sturdy horizontal loop handles. Clay: slightly gritty grayish core to light brick-red at surface. Coarse brick-like texture. Professor Gjerstad is of the opinion, on the basis of a photograph, that this piece should be of the CG III period (Cf. _SCE_ IV, 2, Fig. XVIII:10; XXV:3) although the shape occurs earlier in imported ware (Cf. _SCE_ I, Pl. CXXXIX:18, which is CG II). |
