| Description | Sommerville: Onyx. Julia, daughter of Augustus (not by Livia), wife of Marcus Agrippa, grand admiral. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case VV. Vermeule: Onyx. Cameo. (Unmounted) Bust of a female to right, hair and drapery recalling the 5th century B.C. Sommerville suggests "Julia" the daughter of Augustus, but the pseudo-Sappho type seems to provide the inspiration. |
