| Description | An unfinished whao (chisel) made of greywacke (type of sandstone). Pitted and chipped, the chisel is unfinished. Chisels were tools made for fine, intricate carving. They were made first of stone and then, after European contact, of steel. According to Enrico H. Giglioli, the object's source, this stone is the first stage of a chisel. |
