| Description | Fragment from a frieze slab from stupa. Slab once faced the great stupa or subsidiary buildings. Fragment depicts, in relief on the left, a portion of a bodhi tree surrounded by a chatra (umbrella). There is also a braceleted bent hand of a female figure (yakshi or salabhanjika) to the right of the tree below a wide border composed of floral patterns in squares. The elbow of the figure touches the tree while her hand supports the border. |
