| Description | (2 pieces broken off) Large trough-shaped bone. Walls of trough partly cut down for 2/3rds of length, coming to nothing at one end. Carving sits on wide wall of opposite end. On outside surface, at ridge where the 2 sides meet, a human face carved about 3/4 way from bottom (Nose and mouth on ridge, rest to side). A notch carved at pointed tip. A large section of ridge cut out (22cm) between face and bottom. Edges of sides in-dented just below level of face. Between this height and the base, a back facing crescent cut through each side or "wing" of bone. Most of bone saturated with brown grease. |
