| Description | Temple hanging from Temple of Shiba suburb in Tokyo. Paranirvana of Sakyamuni, death of Buddha. Large kakemono. Embroidered painting. Show creation weeping, grieving figures of people and animals in various color silk thread over paint. Very detailed. Obtained in 1873 from Buddhist temple at Shiba (suburb of Tokyo) at time of partial transfer of the temple to the Shintoists. (Temple burned on Jan. 1, 1874). |
