| Description | Sommerville: Fragment of an antique bronze ring, with an antique paste cameo. Cupid. Antique Pastes, Case XXX. Vermeule: Glass paste. Cameo. (Ancient ring setting, bronze) Winged Eros walking to right carrying arms of Mars (Ares). The design was a popular one in antiquity occuring chiefly on marble caldlelabrum bases. A well known set is in Venice, Graeco-Roman, good style. |
