| Description | Double-Woven technique basket square on bottom and round at top with criss-crossing black and red-brown designs against natural cane colored background. Cane is rivercane (arundinaria tecta or arundinaria macrosperma); colors obtained from black walnut (juglansnigra) for black and bloodroot (sanguinaria canadonsis) for red-brown. Attached tag in Pennypack's handwriting reads: "Double woven basket made by woman who, with only two others, understands art of double weaving. Cherokee, N.C.". Condition: Good. To registrars for freezing 3/91. |
