Description

Canopic jars contained the inner organs of the deceased, removed during the mummification process. The jars are associated with the four sons of Horus: Imsety (human headed, protector of the liver); Qebehsenuef (falcon headed, protector of the intestines); Duamutef (jackal headed, protector of the stomach), and Hapi (baboon headed, protector of the lungs). This example is uninscribed.
