| Description | Rice cake mold. Light colored wood block with handle, carved with concave peach design and character for longevity – shou壽 – in the center. Stamped Chinese text in red below the design: Zhongguo Mianhu guo yin中国棉湖粿印 “Rice cake mold, Mianhu, China.” Mianhu is a town in the Chaoshan region of Guangdong Province. Molds like these are used to make a local variety of stuffed rice cake – hongtaoguo 红桃粿 “red peach cakes” – particularly for festivals like Lunar New Year. |
