| Description | Sommerville: Sardonyx. Cupid preparing a sacrifice. A cameo of the fifteenth century. This stone is very curious. White chalcedony figures on a ruby-red stratum, yet, seen against the light, all white. Gold and Bronze Rings - Cameos, Case QQQ. Vermeule: Sardonyx-Chalcedony. Cameo. (Modern gilt ring setting) Eros walking to right, carrying an offering in a large bowl to a flaming altar at right. Another bowl on ground in center. Italian work of the XVIth century. |
