| Description | A color woodblock print showing a scene from the Sino-Japanese war of 1894-1895 CE. There are two pages glued together to form scene however the right most page which usually forms a triptych is missing. The print depicts a battle at sea, the battle of Pungdo, which was the first naval battle of theh war. There are large Chinese and Japanese battle ships in the background smoking and on fire with Japanese soliders in a row boat in the foreground. There are Japanese inscriptions in the upper left corner and the lower left corner. The artist is Kobayashi Ikuhide (小林 幾英). |
