| Description | A cylindrical, wooden pounder (patu aruhe) that tapers towards the handle and knob end. A patu aruhe (fern root pounder) is a wood pounder used to pound the root of the bracken fern (rauaruhe). Aruhe is the edible root of the rauaruhe and a staple food. |
