| Description | A coconut grater in the form of a flat piece of wood which narrows near one end and has a trapezoidal piece attached perpendicular to it. A thin serrated curved metal piece is nailed to the narrow end. This is often used to grate coconuts. It is called kratai khut maphrao (กระต่ายขูดมะพร้าว) in Thai. A person sits on the main plank and uses the metal piece at the end to process a coconut. Traditional coconut graters like this come in many shapes and sizes, usually animals. |
