| Description | Vermeule: Sardonyx. Cameo. (Modern gold ring setting) Diademed bust to right of a bearded ruler; he appears to wear lion's skin about his neck. Features suggest those of Caracalla (A.D. 198-217) as seen on Roman medallions such as the gold examples from the Aboukir find. Italian work of 18th or earlier 19th century. |
